What is the difference between Academic and General Training IELTS?

What is the difference between Academic and General Training IELTS?

The main difference lies in the Reading and Writing sections:
  1. Academic IELTS is for those applying to universities or professional registration. It features more formal and academic texts in the Reading section and tasks in the Writing section that reflect academic language and topics.
  2. General Training IELTS is for immigration, work experience, or training programmes below degree level. The Reading section includes everyday and workplace-related texts, while the Writing section includes practical tasks such as writing letters and short essays.
The Listening and Speaking sections are the same in both versions.
