What is the format of the IELTS Writing Test?

The Writing Test is 60 minutes long and includes two tasks. In Task 1, candidates describe visual information (Academic) or write a letter (General Training). In both Academic and General Training, Task 2, requires writing an essay in response to a statement, question or argument.
